Invisible Cities

2025

A UWE (University of the West of England) project; producing a screen-printed, A3, 2 spot colour, typographic (Swiss style) poster to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘Invisible Cities (I. Calvino, 1972) and relating it to a social issue within Bristol.

My decision was to focus on the issue of transport in Bristol; how a strung-out, failing bus network simply isn’t serving the city how it’s supposed to – resulting in reduced accessibility, especially for poorer residents. The style was influenced by Paul Rand and Brad Mead as well as posters from typographicposters.com and The International Poster Gallery. Aimed at residents at Bristol and critiquing the decisions of the politicians of Bristol, the outcome was 1, A3, risograph poster (due to time constraints) using black and red.
